Welcome to our Montessori History class for young learners! This program is designed to introduce children to the concept of history through engaging and interactive activities. By exploring the passage of time, significant events, and their own personal and family histories, children will develop a foundational understanding of the world around them and their place within it. We are proud to be the first and only accredited Montessori school on the Outschool platform, featuring certified teachers who bring their expertise from our brick-and-mortar school located in Ontario, Canada. In this class, children will learn about the concept of history and time. They will explore how to understand and measure the passage of time using practical tools such as a calendar and clock. The course will cover significant events, both personal and historical, helping children to place themselves within a broader context. They will also learn about the seasons, sequence cards, and how to create their own timelines, fostering a connection to their family history and personal milestones. Topics Covered: Passage of Time via Daily Calendar and Clock: Children will learn to use a daily calendar and clock to understand the concept of time. They will track days, weeks, and months, gaining a sense of routine and order. Seasons: Through hands-on activities and discussions, children will explore the four seasons. They will learn about the characteristics of each season and how they relate to the passage of time. Significant Events: The class will highlight important historical events and cultural milestones. Children will learn to recognize and understand the significance of these events within a historical timeline. Sequence Cards: Using sequence cards, children will practice arranging events in chronological order. This activity will enhance their understanding of sequences and the flow of time. Child's Own Timeline: Children will create personal timelines, marking significant events in their own lives. This activity helps them to connect personal experiences with the broader concept of history. Family History: Children will explore their family histories, learning about their ancestors and family traditions. This fosters a sense of identity and belonging. Class Structure: Each session will begin with a brief lecture on the day's topic, providing children with a clear understanding of what they will be exploring. The teacher will then demonstrate the materials or worksheets needed for the activity, showing step-by-step how to complete the task. Following the demonstration, children will have the opportunity to try the activity independently, while the teacher observes and provides real-time feedback. This hands-on approach ensures that children learn through experience while receiving the support they need to succeed. Our teaching style is fun, engaging, and productive. We believe that learning should be an enjoyable experience that stimulates curiosity and a love for discovery. By creating a positive and supportive atmosphere, we aim to keep students motivated and eager to participate. Students will have ample opportunities to interact with the teacher and their peers throughout the class. The small group setting ensures that each child receives personalized attention and has the chance to actively participate in all activities. We incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including interactive games, discussions, slides, and occasional video clips, to make lessons dynamic and relatable. Join us in the Montessori History class, where we help young learners explore the fascinating world of history. Through engaging activities and a supportive learning environment, we prepare them for a lifelong curiosity about the past, fostering cognitive growth and a deeper understanding of their own place in the world.
