Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten
Welcome to our Montessori Botany class, where children will embark on a captivating journey into the world of plants. This course is designed to foster a deep understanding and appreciation of nature through hands-on learning and exploration. By the end of the class, students will have a comprehensive knowledge of botany, including the life cycles of plants, their parts, and their planting needs, all while engaging with the outdoor environment.

We are proud to be the first and only accredited Montessori school on the Outschool platform, featuring certified teachers who bring their expertise from our brick-and-mortar school located in Ontario, Canada.

In this Montessori Botany class, students will delve into the fascinating world of plants. The curriculum is designed to provide a well-rounded understanding of botany, emphasizing practical and experiential learning. The key areas of focus will include:

Outdoor Environment: Students will explore the natural world, learning about different types of plants in their outdoor surroundings. This hands-on approach will help them connect classroom knowledge with real-world experiences.

Life Cycles of Plants: Students will learn about the various stages of plant life, from seeds to mature plants. They will observe and document these stages, gaining an appreciation for the growth and development of living organisms.

Parts of Plants: The class will cover the anatomy of plants, teaching children to identify and understand the functions of roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and seeds. This foundational knowledge is crucial for their overall understanding of plant biology.

Planting Needs: Students will learn what plants need to grow, including sunlight, water, soil, and nutrients. Practical activities such as planting seeds and caring for plants will reinforce these concepts.

Class Structure

Each session will begin with a brief lecture on the day's topic, providing students with a clear understanding of what they will be exploring. The teacher will then demonstrate the materials or worksheets needed for the activity, showing step-by-step how to complete the task. Following the demonstration, students will have the opportunity to try the activity independently, while the teacher observes and provides real-time feedback. This structured approach ensures that children learn through experience while receiving the support they need to succeed.

Our teaching style is fun, engaging, and productive. We believe that learning should be an enjoyable experience that stimulates curiosity and a love for discovery. By creating a positive and supportive atmosphere, we aim to keep students motivated and eager to participate. Activities are designed to be dynamic and interactive, encouraging active participation from all students.

Students will have ample opportunities to interact with the teacher and their peers throughout the class. The small group setting ensures that each child receives personalized attention and has the chance to actively participate in all activities. We incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including interactive games, discussions, slides, and occasional video clips, to make lessons dynamic and relatable.

Join us in the Montessori Botany class, where we help students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the natural world. Through engaging activities and a supportive learning environment, we inspire curiosity and foster a lifelong love for nature and science.
