Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten
We are proud to be the first and only accredited Montessori school on the Outschool platform, featuring certified teachers who bring their expertise from our brick-and-mortar school located in Ontario, Canada.

In this Vocabulary class, the primary focus is on introducing student's to a variety of words and concepts that build their language skills and comprehension abilities. The class is designed to create a stimulating environment where children can explore and engage with language in meaningful ways. Student's will be taught foundational vocabulary skills essential for communication and understanding. This includes learning basic nouns, verbs, adjectives, and simple prepositions. They will also begin to understand concepts like antonyms at a basic level. Topics covered include:

- Basic vocabulary words related to colours, numbers, animals, and everyday objects.
- Parts of speech
- Concepts like synonyms and antonyms.
- Introducing and using new words in context through stories and activities.

Class structure:

The class is structured to be interactive and engaging, tailored to the developmental needs and attention spans of kindergarteners. It includes a mix of activities such as interactive read-aloud sessions where new vocabulary words are introduced within the context of stories, hands-on activities where students use new vocabulary words creatively through drawing, worksheets, or storytelling, and small group discussions to explore word meanings and practice using vocabulary in conversations.

I will use a variety of teaching techniques and styles to accommodate all student's learning needs. I will use visual aids such as flashcards, pictures, and charts to reinforce word meanings, incorporate songs to make learning fun, use stories, and provide my student's with opportunities to engage in hands-on learning experiences.

My teaching style is nurturing and supportive, aiming to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore and express themselves.

Student's will have frequent opportunities to interact with me and peers through various activities such as interactive discussions, visual aids, and hands-on activities.
Learning Goals
Students will begin to recognize and name basic parts of speech such as nouns (names of people, places, and things) and verbs (action words). They will develop foundational understanding of how words function in sentences.
