In this multi day class, learners will be introduced to the concepts of place value, composing numbers and basic addition and subtraction through the use and practice of Montessori golden bead materials. Students will improve their understanding of various math concepts of place value, composing numbers, and basic operations by using the Montessori golden beads material in a variety of student centered activities.
Homework Offered
Some follow up work will be given and should be attempted independently. This work should take no longer than 30 minutes each week.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Informal assessments will be made at the end of class by a brief exit ticket activity.Grades Offered
Learners will be provided with the following before class meetings: Electronic Golden Beads Materials for printing Number symbol cards in hierarchical colors Composition of number tickets Addition and subtraction problems Golden Beads coloring control chart page Learners should have paper, colored pencils, a standard pencil and scissors for class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Parental guidance is recommended for use of scissors when cutting out golden beads work. The Canva presentation tool will be used for display purposes in the class, and an account is not required for any learners or families. I will only be using this resource in a screen share capacity.
