Class experience
US Grade 1 - 3
This is a trial class designed to see if individualized tutoring for one learner within the Montessori math strands is right for your learner. Language arts is available upon request. Learners will need to have on hand their own manipulatives: golden bead material, stamp game, small and large bead frames, fraction materials, geometric cabinet, checkerboard, snake game, charts for addition/subtraction/multiplication/division, and bead stair / decanomial box. Learners will be assessed informally in their current knowledge of: - addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division facts, - moving from concrete to abstract in the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division, - linear counting work, - understanding the equivalencies of fractions, - and geometric terminology.
I've taught pre-school and elementary school classes with hands-on math throughout my career. I love interacting with young learners and making sure that their learning is meaningful!
Materials may include (depending on level): golden bead material, stamp game, small and large bead frames, fraction materials, geometric cabinet, checkerboard, snake game, charts for addition/subtraction/multiplication/division, and bead stair / decanomial box. Some of these materials can be utilized virtually with apps on the google or apple app store.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
This is a Montessori approach to elementary math.
