Montessori Math Club: Ten and Teen Board Work
In this multi day class, learners will practice the skills of numeration with tens and teen numbers using a variety of student centered Montessori math activities.

US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
In this multi day class, learners will practice linear counting by tens and teens. We will learn the names eleven to nineteen with our teen work. Instruction will also be given in showing tens numbers 20-90, and counting/building numbers by tens. The purpose of this class is for students to make the connection between quantities and number symbols. We will do this by using the Montessori teen and ten boards, along with multicolored bead bars to build tens and teen numbers. This class will also serve as a reinforcement of the Montessori hierarchical colors associated with whole numbers. (Red-1, green-2, etc) Students do not need to have the Montessori boards to do this work. Electronic copies of tens and teen materials will be provided before class to be printed at home. Extension activities will also be made available to families for learners to deepen their understanding of tens and teen numbers. In order to participate in class, learners should be able to count from 1-10 and write the numbers as well with occasional support. I look forward to meeting your learner for math class!

Supply List
Learners will need colored pencils, paper, and bead bars if possible. The following materials will be provided electronically before class: Colored bead bars and quantity printable Blank teen board for coloring Color coded bead bars printable (can be cut) Tens and teen board numbers printable (black numbers) Extension activities for additional practice

Hello! I am so excited to teach your kiddos on Outschool! I have a degree in Elementary Education and have been teaching over 25 years. I also have a specialty Montessori certificate in grades 1-3, and a TESOL certification credential. For nine years I specialized as a learning Title I learning support teacher with a focus in reading and writing in the language arts curriculum with 5-9 year olds. I have taught 1st and 2nd grade in a Montessori classroom. I love helping children learn to read by teaching the fundamental skills of early reading, grammar, reading comprehension and writing. I also teach many cultures themed lessons for learners where we can enjoy exploring topics of our planet and space together!
I love to help children learn and be successful in the classroom through fun and engaging activities. I like to make classes challenging and rewarding for students, and I have a very student centered approach, which is aligned with the Montessori teaching philosophy. I think of myself as a guide, who always strives to meet children at their instructional level.
Outside of teaching, I am a mother of adult boy/girl twins. My husband and I have a senior rescue terrier named Sandy and we love to go for long walks. I also enjoy living a very healthy lifestyle which includes walking, hiking, yoga, running and enjoying nature whenever possible!
