Class Experience

In this 6-week class, we will be learning all about the 9 main parts of speech using the Montessori approach for grammar, with a Minecraft theme. This approach includes learning and using symbols to represent each part of speech, so that they are easier to learn and identify, and the stories behind each of the symbols which gives the learner a richer understanding of the origin and function of that word type.

Here’s what we will be learning together:

Weeks 1 & 2 - The Noun Family
We will be...

Students will learn about all 9 parts of speech. They will be able to identify them in a sentence and use them to create better sentences of their own.

I am a qualified Montessori Elementary (Primary in the UK) teacher, certified to teach 6-12 year olds. I have taught students within independent schools in the UK, and also taught small groups of homeschooled children who were aged 6-9.

There are no compulsory homework requirements. However, students will love the virtual scavenger hunts I have created for them to complete after each week’s class which will consolidate their learning!

There will be a worksheet to print off each week which will be uploaded to our classroom area prior to the class.

Students should also come to class with paper to write on, and the following colours of pen or pencil - black, light blue, blue, red, orange, pink, green, purple and yellow/gold.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Nearpod
GooseChase

40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

Please make sure that you have installed the Nearpod app for your child in advance of our first session so they can access it during the class, and the GooseChase app for the optional homework.
