The Montessori Method of teaching the Decimal system is one of the best for understanding and comprehension of large numbers, place value etc. This is a great foundation to a future of Math learning. This class requires knowledge of the Montessori Cards and Counters. (Your child needs to know the numbers 1 to 10, be able to put them in order and put the right quantity to each number) Some experience with adding single digit numbers is good. If you did my Math parts 2, 3 or 4 you may also join this class. If you have the Montessori golden bead material you may bring it. If not you will be given prints to substitute for this class. Our Next class in the Decimal System will be in Additions with three digits without regrouping. You may enroll for it also as it follows this one. Week 1 I will introduce the Montessori Golden Bead Material. The child gets the sense of quantities represented in the decimal system, and to see the exchange of quantities as units become ten, tens become hundred, etc . Students will learn the words "unit" "ten" "hundred" and "thousand" and have a visual understanding of what these quantities mean. Week 2 This lesson will introduce the numerals of the decimal system and show how the numbers 1, 10 , 100 and 1000 are written .. The child is introduced to the Montessori color coding of the numerals. Week 3 Simple Additions Single and Double Digit without regrouping using the Golden Bead Material. In this class they will grasp the visual sense of what happens when two quantities are put together. If you have the Montessori golden bead material you may bring it. If not you will be given prints to substitute for this class.

I am Ann. I love children and I love teaching. I am an AMI certified Montessori Teacher. I have owned and Directed a Montessori school and taught in Montessori schools in Finland, India, and the USA.
I had the high honor of being taught by a student of Maria Montessori. Consequently, I was taught to value the authenticity of the method. Sadly today many use the name "Montessori" in class descriptions as a generalized term and it has little to do with the method.
I have also taught private lessons to children aged 3 to 16 in English, Science, Social studies, Math, Art and Music from many different countries.
As a TESOL certified teacher, I have taught English to adults and children at English Language Schools as well as privately over the years.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Business and Accounting.
My teaching style is enthusiastic and engaging. I enjoy helping absolute beginners and walking with them through their journey of learning and accomplishing of their goals. Although the teaching is done online now I have created materials and means of translating it to reflect the best of the method.
I am able to custom lessons according to my students needs. It is important to me that I teach well but more importantly that my students are learning.
As an Artist I enjoy creating things. I sell my creations at galleries, online and at Art markets. I enjoy teaching children and adults how to create art, make jewelry, knit etc.
As a teacher I am also constantly learning and love to share my knowledge. I believe that learning can be a fun and enjoyable experience!
