In this one time class, learners will get to take part in an impressionistic lesson of the composition of the Earth.
Class experience
In this one time class, learners will have the unique opportunity to learn about the layers of the Earth through multiple hands on activities. After brief introductions and an overview of the rules, we will see a dynamic slideshow presentation. This will depict the layers of the Earth through photographs and short video clips. Following this, learners will observe me cutting two parts of an onion and dipping in a small amount of food coloring to highlight the various layers such as crust,...
Students will improve their understanding of the composition of the Earth through a series of multi sensory activities.
Paper of various sizes (1 large, 1 standard) Coloring items such as crayons, markers or colored pencils Cotton balls Toothpicks Scissors 1 large onion (white or yellow) Small knife Cutting board Small dish Water 1 drop food coloring
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parental guidance will be needed for use of scissors, toothpicks and a small knife.
