Montessori Concrete Math for Beginners- Linear Counting

This 30 minutes Montessori Math for Beginner, lessons are presented in a carefully structured sequence that follows the natural progression of a child's mathematical development. The linear counting and numeration materials provide children with a concrete understanding of the concept of quantity and symbol and the relationship between the numeral and quantity.

Learning Mathematics progresses through several levels, each designed to build upon the child's understanding and mastery of mathematical concepts. These levels typically align with the developmental stages of the child and aim to provide concrete experiences before introducing abstract ideas. Lessons are designed to provide your child with a strong foundation in mathematics through a combination of hands-on, multi-sensory and interactive concrete approach. This age-appropriate program is tailored to children between 4 to 6 years old or pre-k to kindergarten, who is passionate with numbers and interested to further their math skills.

MONTESSORI LINEAR COUNTING WEEKLY LESSON

WEEK 1: SANDPAPER NUMBERS
Recognize numbers 0 to 9. The Sandpaper Numbers prepare children for writing and understanding the sequence and value of numbers in a concrete way.

WEEK 2: COUNT WITH TEN FRAME
Introducing the concept of numbers and quantity through visual and hands-on exploration. This method helps children visualize numbers and see the relationship between numbers and its quantity.

WEEK 3: NUMBER RODS & NUMERALS
Children learn about the quantity and numerical symbols from 1 to 10 through hands-on manipulation and matching. Associating numbers and quantity, learn the names of numbers and sequence.

WEEK 4: SPINDLE BOX
This activity helps children understand the concept of zero as an empty set and develop one-to-one correspondence skills while associating quantity and symbol.

WEEK 5: NUMERALS & COUNTERS
This hands-on activity reinforces counting, number recognition, and the concept of odd and even numbers, while also enhancing fine motor skills and concentration.

WEEK 6: HANGING COLOR BEADS 1 to 9
The Hanging Color Beads consist of bead bars, each with a specific number of beads (from 1 to 9) and a distinct color for each quantity. Children count the beads in each bar to learn about numbers and visualize quantities.

WEEK 7: HANGING COLOR BEADS 11 to 19
Children learn to build and understand the numbers from 11 to 19. The material consists of golden bead bars representing ten and colored bead bars (1-9) hanging together on a rack.

WEEK 8: GEOMETRIC SOLIDS
This hands-on lesson helps children develop spatial awareness and geometry vocabulary. The lesson involves identifying similarities and differences between shapes, laying the foundation for understanding geometry concepts, such as volume and symmetry.

WEEK 9: TEEN BOARD
This activity helps children visualize and build teen numbers, reinforcing the concept of place value (ten and units). It provides a concrete and hands-on way for children to understand how teen numbers are formed, building a foundation for further work with numbers and addition.

WEEK 10: TEN BOARD
This activity helps children visualize and build numbers from 10 to 90. It provides a concrete and hands-on way for children to understand how ten numbers are formed, building a foundation for further basic addition and learn to skip count by tens.

WEEK 11: HUNDRED BOARD
Children engage in activities where they fill in the board with number tiles from 1 to 100 reinforcing sequential counting and number recognition. As they place the tiles, they begin to recognize patterns, such as counting by tens and the relationships between numbers.

WEEK 12: INTRODUCTION TO GOLDEN BEADS
Children explore the concepts of place value and the decimal system using golden beads. The Golden Beads include units (1), ten bar (10), square (100), and cube (1,000), each representing different values.
