Students will learn about the evolution of sharks. The topics covered will be as follows: 1: The Chimera-Shark split 2: Paleozoic sharks (Ordovician-Permian) 3: Mesozoic sharks (Triassic-Cretaceous) 4: Cenozoic sharks (Paleocene-Pleistocene) My class will be structured along the shark family tree chronologically. Students will learn the abridged version of the 450 millon year journey of the shark family
I studied paleontology, and more important to this class, Marine Mesozoology at the University of Alberta. I have worked as an educator at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and have been on several fossil digs.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
This class will cover topics which include how these sharks hunt their prey, as well as videos of sharks hunting, which may showcase blood on occasion.
