Calling all Monster Hunters! In this weekly, ongoing class, students will describe and draw a weekly magical creature. ⚡️Conversation, writing and drawing, and providing opportunities to learn with support. ⚡️It's creative and encourages language experimentation and risk-taking. It provides natural occasions for practice and enables children to build a repertoire of speaking strategies with a purpose. ⚡️Apart from the fun aspect, there are many opportunities for the emergent reader to become comfortable with reading and speaking in public. ⚡️The children will have fun listening to each other, creating together and celebrating their accomplishments. ⚡️Pacing, inflection, expression and fluency will all be practiced. ⚡️Through open discussion, students will learn thinking out of the box, improvisation and will use their imagination!
What better way to encourage printing and spelling then to have some fun with Magical Creatures! I have a Bachelor's Degree with a Major in Drama and a Minor in English. I have taught students from Japan and Taiwan, I have a TESOL certificate. I have performed and toured with a cast where we performed across Alberta, Canada - engaging young students and bringing with us a love of drama, creativity and imagination! I am a homeschool mom myself (7 years) and I have two children with special learning needs, including Aspergers and NVLD. I guide my teaching to each child's unique needs and will support and encourage so everyone feels comfortable and accepted. As a literature and drama fan I bring enthusiasm and fun to every class. I am dramatic by nature and this lends itself to a fun and engaging class. As a mother of special needs children, I bring patience and understanding. I create relationships with my students nurturing a lifelong passion for reading and creative thinking. If any child is feeling shy or unsure, I will read the lines with them. We will support each other until everyone is comfortable to read independently. Here is a link to a document with all of Wild and Unstructured Learning's teachers.
