Class Experience

In this class, learners will get to practice and enhance their acting skills through monologues of their choosing. We'll study the monologues of their choice, focusing on elements such as the voice, movement, and overall portrayal of who they are playing. This class is beneficial for students who want to explore playing different characters and genres, as well as develop skills and options for future auditions. The class is divided into 4 sessions, each one building to the final performance to take place in the last class. I say perform because costumes and props will be encouraged!
WEEK 1 - Selecting our monologues.
WEEK 2 - Applying verbs to our lines, finding beats, and adding voice to our character/movement.
WEEK 3 - How to slate, and monologue feedback.
WEEK 4 - Perform Monologue.
My teaching style is active and observational, I'll be implementing warm ups and activities to get comfortable with speaking, moving, encompassing a character and getting in the mood to act. I'll be observing the students apply the techniques discussed in the prior class to their monologues to accumulate a great final product. I'll be interacting with each student with theatre games, lectures to present lesson topics, and providing feedback for the monologue they're working on. It is recommended the students have some experience speaking in front of groups of people, or prior experience in theatre and acting classes.

Learning Goals

Students will learn how to better portray and enhance a character by analyzing the text of their monologue, and exploring the foundation and story of their character. This class can help build skills in public speaking, critical thinking, collaboration, and presentation.

They told me to wear shades because I'll be around so many bright futures! Most of my life I've thought outside the box, but now I'm thinking Outschool! I was thinking Arby's for a long time too, but my doctor said to stop, stop and make sure I'm ordering those tasty sliders! I have some humor, I also have two brand spanking new degrees in Theatre and Secondary Education, and in a world so distant I'd like to help bring people together, so here I am!

I'm Ricky Espinosa and I'm an acting teacher and Dragonball Z enthusiast. I enjoy entertaining, helping people be themselves, and providing safe and friendly places to talk about nerdy things like anime or hit TV shows, to your educational advantage. My classes can help you with your collaboration and public speaking skills!

I've spent several years training and performing Improvisational comedy for the clubs in my school's and companies like JestSerendipity Improv. I've completed my Associates in Theatre at College of Southern Nevada where I participated in several aspects of theatre in several productions; acting in plays, operating sound in the booth, set building, and even directing! I also have alot of experience in performing and teaching stage combat and professional wrestling! I was also Vice President of CSN's Performing Arts Club where I led and assisted in several different workshops.

If you're here to learn, I'm here to teach. Together we can improve eachother!

An Interesting fact about me is I own my own entertainment company with my dad and my favorite food is pasta.
