Class Experience

This class meets over three sessions and focuses on growing as a performer.  Throughout these three classes, students will learn about monologues, select a monologue for performance, and participate in a final showcase that demonstrates what they have learned!

Students will begin each lesson by taking part in “The Actor’s Toolbox.”  This is an acting ritual that builds classroom community, but also provides students with the metaphorical “tools” that will be needed to become a successful...

This class is taught in English.

- Engage in imaginative play.
- Improvise a character and setting from a story.
- Demonstrate the give and take essential to effective collaboration.
- Demonstrate active listening. 
- Use variations of voice, movement, and gesture for different characters.

Instructor will provide a monologue but students are encouraged to rehearse outside of class!

3 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

- Class will incorporate C.H.A.M.P.S.  (Conversation, Help, Activity, Movement, Participation, and Success) This is a system of expectations that will be covered before each day of camp.  It is an opportunity for students to ask clarifying questions and to help create a successful and safe learning environment. 
- Physical activity will not be overly strenuous.  Students are encouraged but not required to wear comfortable clothing that supports flexible movement.
