In this one-time, 30 minute beginner ASL enrichment class, students will Go Bananas learning wide-variety of “Silly” American Sign Language vocabulary signs. Class will begin with a quick hand warm-up, children will learn to sign a “Hello” song, and learn some letters in ASL with our name song. We will meet some puppet friends as the children learn new food & feelings signs and how to sing & sign the song “Apples & Bananas”! We will take turns answering simple questions using the signs we learn during our class. Next we will learn to sign along to another lively song together, laughing and playing as we learn! Class finishes up with an ASL Storytime reading of “Eight Silly Monkeys” and by signing a “Goodbye” song. A fun, comprehensive, easy-paced beginner ASL lesson for children with little or no ASL experience.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to sign “Hello” and “Goodbye” songs, learn a few ASL alphabet letter signs, food & feeling signs, counting signs 1-10, learn 2 fun songs using American Sign Language vocabulary and hear a silly monkey-themed story. We will work on building a solid ASL vocabulary foundation through simple conversation, puppets, Storytime, answering repetitive questions in ASL and having tons of fun! A wonderful addition to the collection of ASL Storytime Classes offered by Miss Dena!

Supply List
Students can bring a toy monkey if they have one (if not any stuffed animal will do) and one or two pieces of play food for pretend play!

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
