Is your almost-teenager asking for money or wanting to buy things but you're wondering whether they should be earning their own money or saving? Join us for an ongoing weekly hands-on discussion about money management and finances.

Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 7

This class is taught by a Certified Financial Planner Professional who guides learners with a crash course in financial literacy. We'll be following our 12-yr old friend "Kai" on a money earning, saving, and spending journey!

Learners can join at any time as each class has continual review as well as newly introduced concepts. Each class will include a summary of concepts and what we covered in class. PDF handouts will be sent as review each month.

Understanding financial concepts and how to look at money management as a necessary life skill

As a Canadian CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Professional, "Mrs. Alyx" (Alexandra (Alyx) Valdal) is passionate about financial literacy for the next generation! Teaching kids about money is so important for establishing good habits and understanding that money is just a tool to be used.

Mrs. Alyx has lived and taught different subjects in Canada, England, and Japan. She has taught learners from age 2 to 72 from preschool to college courses and loves engaging with excited students. In her Outschool classes, Mrs. Alyx helps learners reflect on their own money values through talking about needs and wants and how money can work in our lives, now and in the future.

Recommended additional 10-15min after each class for follow-up learning0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Demonstrated application of the concepts, through sharing examples of their own money management plans, sample budgets, exercises.
