This is a FLEX class. The class doesn't have any live meetings.

The lost pirate needs your help! It took him years to earn the privilege to handle his family's money, and he thought he could handle it without issue, but it turns out he was wrong. Somehow he has misplaced the money. Can you help him find it?

Let's get students excited to learn about money through four interactive escape rooms. In this four-week FLEX class, students will follow clues, solve riddles, complete puzzles and go on a virtual scavenger hunt while attempting to solve the escape room of the week and earn a piece to a message revealing the location of the lost money. Along the way, they will learn to count by 5's, 10's, and 25's, the concept of money, how to identify, describe, count, and add different coins together with a pirate who is determined to learn about his family's passion, money.

Each week I will post a link to an escape room as well as a video showing how to play a game or complete a money-based activity. Each escape room link will be posted on Monday, and upon completion, will give a piece of a message revealing where the lost money is located. In order to locate the lost money students will need to solve all four escape rooms.

The video showing how to play a game or complete a money-based activity will be shared on a Wednesday. I ask that students share a photo of themselves playing the game or completing the activity.

This class will be very interactive and include several worksheets, activities, crafts, and links to games to continue their learning throughout the week. I will encourage students to interact with me and other students in the classroom in at least one of the activities below.

Scavenger Hunts: I will send students on a virtual scavenger hunt to find something in the store for a certain amount of money and post a photo in the class.

Who Can Spot it First: I will post a photo with money hidden somewhere in the photos. The student will have to race to see how can find all of the money first and add it up correctly.

Money Art: I will share an art project for students to complete the artwork and share it in the classroom. Each student should comment with a kind comment about another student's work.

- Share a photo of you completing your activity of the week and tell one of the other students or myself something you liked about this activity.

- Make A Twist: Change something small about this week's activity and share what you changed in the classroom. Others may want to add the change as well.

- Which one is worth more? I will post a photo of two photos of money. First, one to answer correctly which photo is worth more will win a certificate.

Below is an outline of each week's class.

The lost pirate needs your help! It took him years to earn the privilege to handle his family's money, and he thought he could handle it without issue, but it turns out he was wrong. He fell asleep with the money under his pillow and woke up with it missing and replaced by a note and a map that he is hoping will lead him to the missing money.

Each week students will complete one escape room that will get them one step closer to the missing money

Hello, my name is Jacki, and I am thrilled that you have chosen me to be a part of your child's educational journey.

I have been a homeschooling mom for more than a decade and have taught other children, formally, in a classroom setting as well. I love to work with elementary-aged students in all subjects, including English, Science, Math, and History.

I have a passion for teaching! I believe that children learn best in a fun and entertaining environment, which is why you will often find me singing, dancing, and making a "fool" of myself.

I believe that every child is intelligent, it's my job, as a teacher, to bring that quality out into the open for everyone to see.

"Everybody is a genius. but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."
-Albert Einstien

In my spare time, you will find me traveling the world with my family. We have been to 48 U.S states and plan to travel abroad soon. I'm always up for an adventure.
