Class Experience

This class, designed for grades 1-2, teaches the values of U.S. coins through reading, writing, and arithmetic. Learners will be able to identify the coin and the various worth/values/amounts of the coins separately. We will progress to matching coins to values. My friends will learn the following vocabulary words: coins, cent, cents, value, worth, amount, equal, total in all. These vocabulary words are included standards for math vocabulary in all grades. We will skip count by 2, 5, and 10. Learners will also create a foldable for drawing coins and their values. We will play several fun learning games and activities including Can You Show Me?, What Am I?, and True/False. I believe in teaching language vocabulary embedded in the activities. This makes the learning real and purposeful. All students will be given opportunities to speak aloud and answer questions. This is the perfect class for students in grades 1 and 2. I look forward to meeting your child for hands on-learning and fun!
