US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
In this one-time class, students will learn about the purpose of money, how to make money, how to make spending decisions, reasons to save money and will get the chance to make a poster with their financial goal! Class Summary: -We will start by going over what money is and what it is used for. We will learn the differences between NEEDS vs. WANTS and practice with some examples. We will then transition into HOW TO MAKE MONEY and what that looks like. We will go over the different ways in which people make money and brainstorm ideas of how kids can make money on their own. We will discuss setting up a lemonade stand, having a bake sale, or doing chores. Each student will get the chance to share how they earn money at home. -Next, we will learn how to make GOOD SPENDING CHOICES. We will go over a scenario where each student will get the chance to make a spending choice. We will tie it in with Needs vs. Wants. We will learn the importance of buying the things that we Need before buying things we Want. -Lastly, we will talk about SAVING MONEY and the three reasons for saving money: SPENDING, SAVING, and SHARING! We will go over each one and what it looks like. We will place our new knowledge to the test once more through interactive slides. -To finish it off, we will make a poster with our FINANCIAL GOALS. A printable handout will be provided and will need to be printed prior to class. Students are encouraged to bring a piece of paper and crayons or markers to class. A few important things to note about my class: -A printable handout is provided to learners to print and complete at the end of class. However, you can always use blank paper at home if printing is not an option. Crayons, markers, or colored pencils are helpful to have on hand during class time. -For this class, I will be using an online student engagement platform called Nearpod. I like to use Nearpod to create fun, interactive lessons for my students in my live classes. Instructions on how to use Nearpod will be provided in the Welcome Letter upon enrollment. -I will mute all students when needed to minimize background noise. Please make sure your learner either knows how to mute/unmute or I ask that you sit with them during class so they are able to share when it's their turn. From the teacher's side of Zoom, we can only "ask to unmute" but the student will have to click the button to actually unmute themselves. I am so excited to meet your learner in my class! Please let me know if you have any questions.
