Class Experience

During this two week secular money management class, students will learn how to avoid debt in all parts of life, how to manage their money, and plan for how to pay for college, wise home buying, and even saving for retirement. We will meet four times a week for a short lecture, then discussion. Learners will be encouraged to use the class discussions to share their wins and difficulties, and reflect on their confidence in handling money wisely. In this group, teens will have the opportunity to discuss financial decisions they have made so far, and how those will change affect their futures. Our final project will include a vision board to help young adults visualize their long-term goals and dreams

Session 1: Introduction and Money Mindset
Session 2: What is a budget and how does it work?
Session 3: Maintaining Checking Accounts and Emergency Funds
Session 4: Buying your First Car
Session 5: College Without Student Loans
Session 6: Buying a Home and Investing in Real Estate
Session 7: Planning and Saving for Retirement
Session 8: Final Projects, Review, and Graduation

Learners will also have time in each session to ask questions regarding any money concerns and get answers from a reliable and honest source. This class will be most beneficial to learners who arrive to class ready to participate in class discussions.
