US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Before taking this class, students should know the names and amounts of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. To start class we will review the names and amounts of the coins. We will then practice skip counting by 1's, 5's, 10's, and 25's. I will show the students a group of like coins and we will practice counting them together. The next group of coins the students will try to count on their own. Students may ask for help or ask questions at any time by raising their hand. Once the students are have practiced adding like coins together, we will practice adding mixed coins. Again I will show the class a group of mixed coins and we will practice counting the coins together starting with the coin that is worth the most. Students will then practice counting the coins on their own. Students will be encouraged to talk. They will be able to ask questions or make observations about counting coins.
Learning Goals
Student will be able to count like coins and count mixed coins up to one dollar.

Students may need a piece of paper and a pencil or a whiteboard and marker.
