Engage with modern world history while learning to write with structure and style. Learners will work through the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW®) Units 6-9 as they learn to summarize multiple references, craft inventive stories, produce formal essays, and critique and respond to literature. Each week, the teacher will introduce the structure, as well as elements of style, such as quality adjectives, strong verbs, use of clauses, variety in sentence openers, etc... We will also...
Students will use a variety of source texts to produce solid paragraphs and essays, including multiple stylistic techniques.
I am an accredited IEW instructor with 6 years experience using this curriculum in online and in-person small-group settings.
Students will complete exercises, make outlines, practice vocabulary, and have weekly writing assignments of 1-3 paragraphs.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners may submit their completed writings to me via private message on the OutSchool platform. I will offer encouragement and specific constructive feedback. I will not be grading papers or offering grades of any kind. If a parent needs a letter grade for their child, parents may use the checklists at the end of each lesson to assign points and grades to their childrens' papers. I am happy to offer grading advice if needed.
