What is the Horton Technique? Lester Horton was an American Choreographer who developed a modern dance technique based on Native American dances, anatomical studies, and other movements. What is the Graham Technique? Created by Choreographer, Martha Graham, her technique is based on the opposition between contraction and release. In this class we will establish the principal concepts of contemporary and modern dance. We will concentrate on balance , core strength and flexibility. (Please make sure there is space to move around) Class Setup: Warm up, Center Work, and Choreography (New choreography each week) Attire: Comfortable clothing, bare feet or ballet shoes , water bottle and towel Experience: You do not need previous dance experience to flourish in this class, it's designed for the beginner dancer. If this level is too slow please feel free to reach out and we can place you in a more advanced class. *Potential Risks: Please make sure your learner is stretched and warmed and ready to go before class to prevent possible injury Please make sure there is an open work space to prevent potential accident Please wear the appropriate footwear- flat jazz shoes or barefoot to prevent potential falls Please have a water bottle available to prevent dehydration and a towel available to prevent sweat from dripping onto floor and cause a potential hazard

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a native New Yorker and graduate of the world renowned LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts. I hold a BA in Media & Communications from SUNY at Old Westbury and I'm DEA Certified to teach Dance at an Intermediate to Advanced level.
I have choreographed numerous Platinum status awards and first placed titles for both International and National Ballet competitions, I have over 20 years of teaching experience with students that have gone on to train with Juilliard and North Carolina School of Arts.
I created a Dance Production, "Eden" which is held annually at The Dr.Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, Fl
