Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10
This class will provide students the opportunity to learn some basic facts about international human rights law and then put their knowledge to work in a mock courtroom scenario. Students in this class will spend the first two class periods getting an overview of international human rights law, including international humanitarian law and international criminal law and learn the framework of how international law works. The second two class periods will be devoted to a mock trial experience as your student will be on a team of either prosecution, defence or Judges who will try a mock case as it would happen at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. The Russia/Ukraine situation will be explained and understood during this exercise.

Learners will benefit from taking the introduction to international law FLEX course which I also offer, but will also be able to complete the class as a stand alone course to dip their feet into the wild world of international law. This class is also required prior to taking other mock trial debate classes which I offer.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I was a lawyer at the International Criminal Court in The Hague for many years and have now taught mock trials at the university and high school level for several years. It is a crowd pleasing favorite which engages students and teacher alike. I truly love teaching this course!
