Join me to hear some popular stories written by Mo Willems including, "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!", "The Pigeon Needs a Bath!", "The Pigeon Wants a Puppy!", "The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog!", and more! Listening to a fluent reader helps young students learn accuracy and fluency. Reading for just 20 minutes a day can help boost student's mental health and improve critical thinking skills. In this class, students will hear a collection of stories written by Mo Willems and then will discuss story elements following each book. We will even learn to draw popular Mo Willems character, The Pigeon!
Learning Goals
Students will improve reading fluency by listening to Miss Zimmerman read popular stories by Mo Willems. Students will learn to draw the character Pigeon.

Hello! I am so glad you have found my class!
I am an early elementary teacher that focuses on reading readiness, early literacy skills, and social emotional learning! I am a licensed K-5 teacher. Most of my teaching career has been spent working with pre-k through grade one students. My teaching philosophy is relationships first, rigor second. I believe that students learn best when they feel loved and accepted, so I strive to make all my learners feel that they belong in my classroom community. Outside of teaching, I am a dog mom, plant mom, and marathon runner! I hope to see you in class! :)
