Class experience
Whether you know it as a guitalele, guilele, or even a kiku, this is a wonderful instrument to learn! These classes are recommended for beginner players who are new to the guitalele, intermediate players, or advanced players who are looking to develop new skills and further their technique. During these lessons, we focus on building up the learner(s) specific goals, skills, and interests. During classes, topics we may work on include, but are not limited to reading chord charts and...
Students will have the opportunity to learn to play chords, recognize chord symbols, read tablature and notation, play melodic lines and accompany songs using strummed chords.
Homework Offered
Learners should set aside a short amount of time daily to play through the material from that week's session in order to build skills.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Grades Offered
- a guitalele, either tuned A-D-G-C-E-A or E-A-D-G-B-E. - a digital tuner (preferable) or access to the GuitarTuna app on a mobile device **other than** the one the student will use for the Zoom class. Songs, chord charts, and other supplemental materials will be supplied by the instructor.
It is key that the learner's instrument is in tune. The tuning of the instrument is fundamental to feedback to the student on the accuracy of their playing and consequently, their skill development. Parents should commit to supporting students in tuning the instrument until the students are old enough and skilled enough to be able to tune their instrument independently. Instruments should be checked regularly for tuning adjustments. In the event that the minimum enrollment for this class is not met, the teacher still plans to teach the class in the hopes of other learners joining. If you prefer that your learner ONLY work in a group and do not want them to be a single learner in class, please message the instructor to let her know.
