In this skill based class, students will learn the mechanics of MLA citations. We will practice in class building a bibliography with correct citations, as well as learning when and how to use in-text citations. We will discuss issues of plagiarism and how to avoid it, how to use quotations properly, and how to give appropriate credit to secondary sources in research paper writing of all types. This class will teach the fundamentals of MLA style, while giving the students opportunity to practice in a workshop format during class. Proper citations are a key feature of research based writing in high school and college.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to avoid plagiarism, how to use quotations, how to build a bibliography, and how to properly cite sources within their writing.
