Miss Sheila's Story Circle: Read a Story/Write a Story: Creative Writing

Learners have the opportunity to enjoy a book, engage in conversation about literature, and craft their own stories in various genres. Most importantly, we have fun with creative writing. This class makes a great summer writing camp!

Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 3
Beginner - Advanced Level
In this class, learners will have the opportunity to explore enjoyable children's literature. Each session will begin with up to five minutes dedicated to sharing and community building. Next, we will focus on a specific genre of fiction. Miss Sheila will then read and discuss a selected book; some of these books will be in digital format, while others will be in print. After our reading, learners will view an image that relates in some way to the book we read. This image will serve as a visual writing prompt, inspiring learners to write their own stories. We will wrap up by sharing our work.

Pre-Requisites
Learners should have the ability to write.
Supply List
This is a writing class. Paper and pencil will be required for each class session.  Printouts of story planning sheets are included in the classroom announcements.
