Description
Class Experience
Students will be able to draw a simple objects that are assembled in a pleasing composition. They will follow a line drawing, and follow the teacher's guidelines on the proper way to paint the drawing. We will explore the application of watercolor as the student completes this project. I am very particular with the way students complete their projects, encouraging them to be neat and complete with their artwork.
All of us have a gift to share with others, and this is what I want to share. I started drawing when I was very young and haven't stopped. I love drawing more than anything. I'm also naturally good at teaching. I've been an art teacher for over 18 years, and I've also taught Drama, Photography, Speech and Dance. I've always been really good at explaining things. Plus, I enjoy the students. If you know your son or daughter likes art, I will help them create beautiful projects worthy of framing on the wall, not just curling up on the refrigerator! :)
There will be no homework, as the application of watercolor paint requires supervision. They will complete what fits into an hour class, and resume the project at the next lesson.
I can provide my expertise. The Students need to purchase the following materials: 1) Watercolor paper found on Amazon. 2) A Pencil - Bic #2 mechanical 0.7 pencils from Target are my "go-to" pencils. BIC X-TRA LIFE. 3) An eraser. White Pearl is fine..Target 3-pack $1.99 All these things can be found at Target. 5) A tray of watercolors and a watercolor paintbrush. The student can find watercolors on Amazon, Target or Michaels. The student should use cake watercolors in a tray, and an introductory set is fine for this project. 6) Gel pens in white. 7) Micron (smaller ink pens) can be found on Amazon. These are tinier than the the Ultra Fine Sharpie. If you can't use them, then an Ultra Fine Sharpie in Black will work well, too. They can be found at Target and Staples and, of course, Amazon. 8) A plastic plate for mixing colors, or a plastic palette paint tray found on Amazon.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will look at all the students' work during class and assess them along the way. As long as the student tries his or her best and does neat, complete work, he or she will be successful!
3 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
