Class Experience

It is Storytime with Miss Forester as I read "Gingerbread Baby" by Jan Brett. Jan Brett is one gifted artist as she tells a second story in the borders of each page of her books. Jan Brett's Gingerbread Baby is not about to get eaten in this delicious twist on a favorite Christmastime tale! It all begins when Matti opens the oven too soon and out jumps a cheeky little Gingerbread Baby. He leads Matti's mother and father, the dog and the cat, and a whole colorful cast of characters on a rollicking chase through the village and into the forest, staying just out of reach, daring them to catch him along the way. But Matti's not with them. He's at home in the borders of each making what turns out to be a gingerbread house into which the Gingerbread Baby runs. Only Matti knows he is safely inside. After I read this book, I'll be guiding your child how to draw a scrumptious gingerbread house of their own complete with candy canes and gumdrops.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a certified teacher who has taught two years of 4th grade, two years of 3rd grade and I've been a preschool teacher for 14 years. Two of my most favorite parts of being a preschool teacher have been storytime and guided drawing lessons with my three and four year olds. I enjoy bringing my students into each story by asking questions, using different voices and sound effects. I want to show my students how fun and exciting reading can be. At preschool ages of 3 to 6 years old, their creativity is so sweet and every picture they draw will not look exactly like mine, but drawing is such a stepping stone to other things. Through guided drawing, students will learn colors, following directions, creativity, and appreciation of art through crayons. I am a kid at heart who loves to laugh and collect vintage Fisher Price sets, toys and Fisher Price Little People.
