Class Experience

It's Storytime with Miss Forester as I read Bear Stays Up for Christmas by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman. Bear’s friends are determined to keep Bear awake for Christmas! So they wake Bear up (from his deep sleep of hibernation) and have him help them find a Christmas tree, bake cakes, hang up stockings, and sing Christmas songs. Bear stays up—by discovering that giving is one of the best Christmas presents of all! If you haven't introduced your child to the Bear books, your child is in for a sweet treat. After I read this book, I'll be guiding your child how to draw a Christmas tree in Bear's cave next to Bear fast asleep under his quilt.

Supply List
Please make sure your child has a blank piece of drawing paper and a full set of colorful crayons. Crayons allow your child to improve their fine motor skills and crayons give your child more confidence as they draw -- more so than markers. Thank you!

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a certified teacher who has taught two years of 4th grade, two years of 3rd grade and I've been a preschool teacher for 14 years. Two of my most favorite parts of being a preschool teacher have been storytime and guided drawing lessons with my three and four year olds. I enjoy bringing my students into each story by asking questions, using different voices and sound effects. I want to show my students how fun and exciting reading can be. At preschool ages of 3 to 6 years old, their creativity is so sweet and every picture they draw will not look exactly like mine, but drawing is such a stepping stone to other things. Through guided drawing, students will learn colors, following directions, creativity, and appreciation of art through crayons. I am a kid at heart who loves to laugh and collect vintage Fisher Price sets, toys and Fisher Price Little People.
