Class Experience

It's story time with Miss Forester as I read "How to Build a House" by Gail Gibbons. Through this picture book, your child will gain an understanding of the process of building a wood frame house, from its concept to the planting of a final bush. We will discuss all the different people needed to build a house from the architect, engineer, concrete workers, carpenters, plumbers, masons electricians, painters, landscapers and others until finally the house is ready to become a home. Gail Gibbons presents the house building project in a fun and easy to understand drawings in her book. After we read the book, I will be guiding your child how to draw a simple house and how to draw different tools simply that are used to build a house.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a certified teacher who has taught two years of 4th grade, two years of 3rd grade and I've been a preschool teacher for 14 years. Two of my most favorite parts of being a preschool teacher have been storytime and guided drawing lessons with my three and four year olds. I enjoy bringing my students into each story by asking questions, using different voices and sound effects. I want to show my students how fun and exciting reading can be. At preschool ages of 3 to 6 years old, their creativity is so sweet and every picture they draw will not look exactly like mine, but drawing is such a stepping stone to other things. Through guided drawing, students will learn colors, following directions, creativity, and appreciation of art through crayons. I am a kid at heart who loves to laugh and collect vintage Fisher Price sets, toys and Fisher Price Little People.
