Miss Brooke teaches kids everything from language arts and social studies to cake decorating and crafts—and can't wait to teach your child. An education major and certified yoga/wellness instructor based out of Colorado, Miss Brooke has worked with a variety of grade levels, ranging from pre-school to 12th grade. She's also worked in multiple subjects, including (but not limited to) mathematics, science, language arts, and social studies—though she's most passionate about the latter two. She truly believes that reading is our first-class ticket to adventure and that social studies is the perfect way to teach youth what's important in our everyday lives through history and civic engagement. In addition to her work in the education and wellness field, she has a few hobbies that keep her busy—and, more importantly, happy! Cake decorating, photography and crafting are some of her favorite pastimes. I am a firm believer in curriculum integration- I love to incorporate a variety of learning opportunities into all of my classes ranging from science and social studies to reading and math, with some social emotional skills sprinkled in there as well. In addition to integration, I am particularly fond of an active classroom setting- it is my goal in every class that I teach to incorporate both verbal and physical engagement throughout the class regardless of what subject I am teaching.
This is a very active an engaging class that allows each student ample opportunity to speak out. Assessment of their comprehension will be based on their answers.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The students may require some assistance with the craft portion of the class. Some of the younger students may benefit from an adult helping them during class as well.
