Class Experience
Students will learn the different letter R sounds - beginning R, blends, and R following vowels - in spoken language. Students will learn words with the different letter R sounds. Students will participate in games during class. Students will have fun!
I have been a speech-language pathologist for over 20 years and I love helping kids communicate clearly. I have been teaching letter R sound awareness for reading and speaking for the last 15 years, including a previous, very popular Outschool class.
A follow up activity will be posted in the classroom each week. Students can opt to share their follow-up activity with the teacher through classroom videos, but it will not be required.
Outside materials are normally not necessary for this class. On the rare occasion that they will be needed, learners will be notified a week in advance and reminders will be sent. A weekly extension activity will be posted in the classroom each week after class. This activity will be in black and white to save on ink and will be able to be completed on a device if a printer is not available.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Can the learner identify the different letter R sounds in spoken language? Can the learner share different words with the letter R sounds? Did the learner participate in the game during class? Did the learner have fun?
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Class content will be kept age appropriate and I will do my best to steer conversations away from controversial topics.
All class content will be created by the instructor.
