Class Experience

In this introductory class, learners ages 6-8 will learn how to say their feelings in Spanish. Class will begin with me greeting and getting to know the learners for about 3 to 5 minutes. This will be mostly in English since it is a beginner class. I will then introduce the topic and ask the learners if they know any words to describe feelings in Spanish. I will then begin my powerpoint presentation to introduce the question "¿Cómo estás?" which means "How are you?" in Spanish. We will practice two different ways to answer that question: "Estoy..." which means "I am..." and "Me siento..." which means "I feel..." We will talk about how to say different emotions and feelings in Spanish and practice them together. Towards the end of class we will play a fun Spanish version of Charades where we will take turns acting out and guessing different feelings. One of my goals throughout class is to build off of what the learners already know, encourage them and also show them that learning Spanish is fun!

Hola y bienvenidos! Hello and welcome to my profile!

**Please note that I am currently on maternity leave.**

I am Profe (short for Profesora) Jess and I am so excited that you are here. You are probably wondering what makes me qualified to teach your son or daughter Spanish? Well, I have a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature from Gordon College in Massachusetts. I have also spent time living in the Dominican Republic as well as Mexico. I have experience teaching in small group setting in person as an ESL paraprofessional at an elementary school. The past three years I worked at my church as a volunteer preschool teacher. Finally, I currently work online as an English teacher. I have been doing this for a year now and have taught students ages 3 to 16 at various levels. I absolutely love it.

I am so thrilled about the opportunity to connect with your son or daughter and learn together! I have been passionate about Spanish since I took my first Spanish class in the 7th grade and I hope to share my excitement and passion with your child.

Please review the following information before class:

- I recommend each student wears headphones with a microphone to eliminate background noise and feedback. This is not required, just recommended.

- Please arrive to class on time. The length of a class is approximate and varies based on student ability and number of students. Classes are designed to end on time.

- Late or Missed Class Policy: All courses will begin on time as long as one student has arrived and is in the classroom. If there are no students in the classroom at the assigned class time, per Outschool policy, the teacher will leave a message on the discussion board and leave the classroom after 10 minutes.
