Let's take a trip down into the grass, into muddy tunnels, back up into the trees and even into the sky to explore some of the world's most fascinating creatures. We'll get a close up view of these beasts and find out what makes them tick and how they survive. We'll also learn to read and use big juicy words like arthropod and arachnid. We will read and chat and make some mini-beasts ourselves! You will become an entomologist . Are you ready? For the week between classes, you will be...
Access to a printer Paper and pencil or whiteboard and dry erase marker Access to a device for the Zoom live meetings Bug Collector. You can use a mason jars with holes in the lid, or pick one up at the Dollar Tree...on sale for a buck.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Children will be hunting harmless bugs on some weeks to save for class in a bug collector. They will be instructed where to look for them in the yard and how to properly care for them. They will also be encouraged to release them after class. If you have a child that does not have experience with bugs, please accompany him or her. : )
