Students will learn how to create small sketchbooks by hand! They will also learn about how to develop a personal theme for their book and create visual journal pages that follow their theme in multiple materials. Hands on learning! Week 1 - Construct your sketchbook and choose your theme! Begin gathering ideas for how you want to develop your theme throughout the course. Week 2 - Dry media development. Learn how to create different types of works in your sketchbook using dry materials...
Glue Stick, Thread (Embroidery works best), sewing needle, pencil, and push pin (or something that can poke a small hole). Sketchbook Pages: Inside pages - You will need about 4 to 8 pages that are cut to 5.5 inches x 8 inches. Any type of paper will work for the inside pages. Cover page - You will need one page that is 5.5 inches x 10 inches. This works best with a type of decorative paper. Materials cost about $20. Misc Materials - pens, markers, crayons, paint, watercolor, snip its of paper (any kind of paper - scrapbooks, magazine, tissue, etc), eraser, ruler, and any random art supplies you have laying around will work great for this course!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
