Students will be able to: Develop fundamental acting skills for musical theater, including the use of body, face, and voice to effectively express a character. Explore the fundamentals of vocal technique and physiology for musical theater, including proper breathing and projection. Introduce the basics of dance technique for musical theater, including different dance styles and basic dance steps. Practice using body and movement to enhance acting and singing performances in musical theater. Develop the ability to transition from a scene to a song in musical theater, including the use of the "moment before".
Uchenna is a New Jersey-based director, actor, and playwright. Their previous work includes tick, tick... BOOM! (Director), 21 Chump Street (Performer), and playwriting at the New York Theatre Workshop. She is currently studying theater, creative writing, and human resource management at Rutgers University, where they also serve as the Artistic Director of Cabaret Theatre. She is beyond excited to contribute to making high-quality theater education accessible to all students with the desire to learn!
