25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
The class will begin with a look at the keyboard as learners identify the patterns of the keys. Next, learners will find high and low notes on their keyboards/pianos, taking turns demonstrating and identifying the sounds. Then, learners will discover that sounds can move up and sounds can move down. Finally, learners will play 2 simple songs with right and left hand fingers 2 and 3. This class is a great introduction to the teacher, teaching style and class structure. Learners will be provided with visuals on the screen as well as a view of the teacher's piano. A multi-day class will be scheduled for those who are interested in continuing Mini Maestros Piano Course. Most learners will need assistance at this age. The class will practice on mute and unmute to play for the class or answer questions. For the multi-day course, it would be helpful if learners know numbers 1-5.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Hello! My name is Mrs. McArthur and I teach MUSIC! I am a Texas certified all-level music teacher with 29 years of teaching experience, 26 years in public schools and 3 years online and homeschool experience. I have taught preschool through eighth grade General Music and Choir classes. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in vocal music from Oklahoma Baptist University.
I believe that every learner can make music! Learners need a variety of experiences to learn music skills, including visual, aural and kinesthetic. Given sequential steps, students can achieve well beyond the expectations. When creativity is modeled, learners discover that making mistakes improves music. Learners need opportunities to be creative with choices so they can create on their own terms and interests. By making connections to science, social studies, math and beyond, students learn that subjects don’t exist in isolation. Music is the universal language and learners deserve a chance to explore the world through a musical lens!
