Fun, age-appropriate, and structured for beginning dancers. We will always use only family-friendly choreography and music. The class will include a warm-up and technique, and free style time to encourage self-confidence and creativity. Class structure: - Introduction and Welcome - Warm-up Exercises - Stretching and Strengthening - Water Break, Short Discussion and Video Presentation of the Style of the Day - Hip Hop Technique and "Across the Floor" Exercises - Learn a Short Hip Hop Routine - Free Style/Improvisation Game - Cool Down and Goodbyes

Parental Guidance
To ensure safety, dancers should be supervised by a parent or guardian during dance class, and please make find a slip-proof area to dance. If dance shoes are not worn, bare feet are preferable over socks. We do not offer makeups or refunds for missed classes.
Supply List
The dancers should wear stretchy, comfortable clothing and slip-proof shoes.

Showtime Dance has been sharing the JOY of Dance with the children of Southern California since 2001. We teach Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern/Contemporary/Lyrical Dance, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Pointe, Stretching & Strengthening, and Yoga for ages 3 and up. Our classes are family-friendly and age-appropriate, and FUN. We educate the whole child, body and mind, while surpassing California State Educational Standards. Our instructors are true professionals, with years of experience performing professionally and teaching children of all ages, while also adept at creating a positive learning environment and a personal connection with each and every child. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of developmentally-appropriate, age appropriate, family-friendly music and movement in all dance classes. Our staff all truly believe that this is the best job in the world, and hope to share the JOY of dance with your child. With Showtime Dance, learning to dance is convenient, appropriate for the young child, and FUN!
Our Instructors:
"Miss Sarah" Johnston, is the Owner, President, and Lead Instructor for Showtime Dance, Inc., which brings dance classes to schools throughout San Diego and Orange Counties in California. Her first dance class was at the age of 3, and she immediately knew what she had to do with the rest of her life. Miss Sarah graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a BFA in Dance Performance and Education, and she has now been teaching dance for 25 years. She also is a California State certified preschool teacher with a certificate in Early Childhood Education. She performed professionally in Ballet, Modern/Contemporary, and Jazz Dance with Paul Powell Productions in Tucson, Canyon Movement Company in Flagstaff, with Watson Dance Company in Yorba Linda, and in "The Glory of Christmas" at the Crystal Cathedral in Orange, CA. For 5 years, she danced at Disneyland: in the Parade of Dreams, A Christmas Fantasy Parade, Disney’s Electrical Parade, and Fantasmic. “Miss Sarah” has taught ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, tap, hip hop, leaps and turns, improvisation, and choreography for Momentum Dance Center, Pacific Dance Center, Canyon Dance Academy, Orange County Dance Productions, Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy, and Coconino Community College. She performed in Arizona, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and Italy, and she has taught at the American College Dance Festival in New Mexico and Washington State, and at The Dance and the Child International conference in The Netherlands. At the Disneyland Resort, she taught Physics and Leadership Workshops through the Youth Education Series, and stage managed children's performing groups from all over the world. Miss Sarah is a certified yoga teacher and a certified "Rhythm Works Integrative Dance" instructor for children with special needs. Her newest title is that of "Mom," to her own two tiny dancers.
"Miss Hannah" began her training at many dance studios in North San Diego County. She then attended the Joffrey Ballet School’s Trainee Program, mentored by Francesca Corkle. Miss Hannah attended the University of California at San Diego, where she studied under Patricia Rincon, Eric Geiger, Alison Dietterle Smith, Liam Clancy, Sadie Weinberg, and Terry Wilson. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2014 with a BA in Dance, when she was recognized as a Muir Scholar and awarded The Leandra Smith Memorial Dance Scholarship. She has taught dance in studios and elementary schools through Arts for Learning and Showtime Dance. Currently, she is enjoying teaching and choreographing in many styles. While living in Encintas, she has continued teaching for Showtime Dance through the Outschool platform. Reaching new students through technology has been amazing!
Miss Katie graduated in 2020 with her Bachelor of Arts in Dance from California State University Long Beach with a special emphasis on performance and pedagogy. There she trained in classical ballet, modern, jazz, dance improvisation, and Pilates. Miss Katie has been performing professionally for the past 5 years in regional theatre productions including at the Welk Resort Theatre, Barn Stage Company, and the GEM Theatre. Miss Katie has been teaching and choreographing since 2012 and is passionate about creating the next generation of performing artists who also possess kindness and respect for their fellow artists.
"Miss Sharon" joins us from the world of professional musical theatre, having performed in shows such as: Oliver!, Chicago, Singing in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Memphis, Godspell, The Tempest, and Crazy for You. She is also an experienced dance and cotillion teacher with training from Circle in the Square Theatre School and a theatre degree from BYU. She performed in parades at Disneyland for 7 years, and in plays, and musicals throughout Orange County, including Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors with "Shakespeare by the Sea.” She recently moved to New York City to pursue her dreams of Broadway, and regularly performs in her own YouTube series and teaches Outschool live online classes for Showtime Dance.
"Miss Sandra" started dancing at 4 years old at Classical Dance Center. In high school, she performed in and helped to choreograph school musicals and plays, where she won a “Bright Spot Award” from The Spirit of the Macy’s Awards for performance as Cindy Lou Who in Seusscial: The Musical. She has trained at Orange County Dance Center, Hirschl School of Dance Arts, and Millennium Dance Complex OC, Millennium Dance Complex LA, and Edge Performing Arts in Los Angeles. Everyday, Miss Sandra continues to fall more and more in love with dance and continues to work hard to achieve her dance goals.
