Description
Class Experience
Join me for this fun one week baking course. From magical candies to scrumptious chocolate bark, we'll cook tasty recipes to impress any unicorn fan. Suitable for vegetarians. I can help adapt recipes for allergies if messaged in advance. This is Recipe Set 1 of a series of Mini Bakers: Unicorn Treats Camp classes, the sets can be completed in any order. We will start class with a couple of minutes of introductions, making sure that everyone knows each other's names. We will then check that...
Learners will be able to follow a recipe step-by-step. Learners will be able to make unicorn treats to share with family or friends.
I am an experienced school teacher (3-11 year olds), and I have also worked at a number of Summer camps. I was the counsellor in charge of the cooking groups for a couple of years of Summer camp. I enjoy baking in my free time.
Learners will need to measure out their ingredients before class. Recipes may not always be completed in the 30 minute live class session. Sometimes the food will need additional heating or cooling time, or decoration steps will need to be finished. Learners are encouraged to help to clean up their baking space after class.
Ingredient and kitchen equipment lists will be posted in the classroom around a week before each class. I will email learners who sign-up after this time as they will not be able to see the prior classroom posts, please allow 24 hours after signing-up for the ingredient and kitchen equipment email to reach you. A recipe sheet will be shared the day before class. You may print this if you wish, or just follow along with the steps in class. We will be cooking a variety of recipes and they will need a range of kitchen equipment, frequently used items include - oven (adult use), baking tins and trays, mixing bowls, measuring jugs, weighing scales or measuring cups, spoons, spreading knives, piping bags, piping nozzles, scissors and baking parchment.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
When you enroll in this class, you accept full responsibility for your learner's safety. It is essential that a responsible adult is in the same room as the learner (Outschool policy is that adults must remain off camera) and ready to step in to help if necessary. Some recipes will need baking in the oven. An adult must be responsible for placing the food in the oven, checking on it during cooking and taking it out when necessary. Please ensure your learner has short sleeves, or close fitting long sleeves that will not get caught on equipment, long hair tied back and is wearing an apron or clothes that can be washed easily. Please supervise learners if they use scissors to cut baking parchment or piping nozzles. Please ensure you check all your ingredients for possible allergens. Recipes can be adapted for vegetarians.
