Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this ongoing class, participants join a private, moderated Minecraft world where they can safely interact with peers who share their passion for creativity and adventure. Using the Java Edition of Minecraft, students will work together to construct sprawling kingdoms, enchanted forests, and mythical landmarks limited only by their imaginations.

This isn't just about playing a game – it's an immersive learning experience that fosters important skills in a fun, engaging environment. As they build and explore their digital realm, students will:

• Develop advanced design and construction techniques in Minecraft
• Enhance teamwork and communication skills through collaborative projects
• Improve creative writing and storytelling by crafting the world's history and lore
• Practice resource management and strategic planning within their virtual economies
• Learn positive online interaction and digital citizenship in a supervised multiplayer setting
• Strengthen problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
• Cultivate leadership and project management skills by organizing group initiatives

A Typical Class Experience:

Week 1: Welcome to the Mythical Realm
Students are introduced to our magical Minecraft world. They'll learn how to navigate the space, understand the class guidelines, and begin brainstorming ideas for their fantasy kingdoms.

Week 2: Founding Your Kingdom
Participants start bringing their ideas to life, learning advanced building techniques to create unique architectural styles for their realms. They'll also begin gathering resources and setting up the foundations of their kingdoms.

Week 3: United We Build
This week emphasizes collaboration. Students work across kingdom boundaries to create shared spaces like bustling marketplaces, mysterious forests, or arcane towers that benefit the entire community.

Week 4: Tales of the Realm
Diving into the art of storytelling, the class works together to weave rich histories and legends for their world. Students learn narrative techniques and collectively craft the myths that will bring their digital universe to life.

Future weeks will explore themes such as:
• Designing habitats for mythical creatures
• Constructing magical workshops and enchanted locations
• Creating trading routes and fantasy-themed economies
• Building legendary monuments and world wonders

As the course progresses, students will face new challenges, unlock more advanced building and storytelling techniques, and have opportunities to guide the evolution of their shared world. Parents can be confident that while their teens are having fun, they're also developing valuable skills in a safe, moderated environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and respectful online interaction.

Hi everyone! I'm Philippe, and I'm thrilled to introduce your children to the exciting world of coding through their favorite games and platforms.

What Makes My Classes Special?

I believe in learning through play. That's why I use popular platforms like Minecraft, Roblox, and Unity to make coding fun and engaging for kids. In my classes, your child will gain practical coding skills that can be applied to future academic and career paths. I focus on encouraging creative problem-solving, providing a safe and supportive environment where every child can learn at their own pace.

What Will Your Child Learn?

In my classes, we cover basic coding concepts like variables, loops, and conditionals. But it's not just about the technical stuff! We also explore game design principles, learning what makes games fun and how to create them. Your child will have opportunities to work on team projects, developing collaborative skills and learning to communicate ideas effectively.

I place a strong emphasis on critical thinking, helping your child develop the logical reasoning skills crucial for problem-solving. And of course, they'll gain confidence in using and understanding modern tech tools, boosting their overall technology literacy.

Why Choose My Classes?

As an instructor with a degree in Computer Science specializing in Game Development, I bring both expertise and passion to every class. I tailor the learning experience to match different skill levels and interests, ensuring that each child gets the most out of our time together.

I'm committed to helping your child develop future-ready skills. In today's world, where technology plays an ever-increasing role, the abilities they'll gain in my classes will be invaluable. But perhaps most importantly, I'm here to help unleash your child's creativity. There's nothing quite like watching a child's imagination come to life through their own creations!

Join me in exploring the exciting world of coding through games. Together, we'll empower your child with skills that will spark their curiosity, boost their confidence, and open doors to future opportunities.
