Students struggle with differentiating fact from opinion. According to PBS Learning Media, "It is important for learners to be able to recognize differences between facts and opinions so they know what to believe and what to consider as someone's perspective. Separating fact from opinion is central to interpreting information intelligently." Literacy Ideas states that "the ability to distinguish between fact and opinion helps students develop their critical and analytical skills in both their reading and their listening." In this one time class, we will talk about the difference between the two and then play a fun game of Kahoot to practice.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to differentiate between fact and opinion.

Parental Guidance
We will be using Kahoot for this class. Kahoot is an online platform in which kids can play games to practice their knowledge. Students have the option of downloading the Kahoot app on a tablet or phone or using Kahoot.it site. Some kids like to see the question on a separate screen, and use their tablet or phone to answer the questions. Two devices are not required or needed. They can split their screen and look at the questions on part and answer on the other. I will be sharing my screen to show the questions.

Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to visit my virtual classroom. I am a certified teacher offering classes in Spanish, English as a Second Language, Reading, and elementary school subjects and crochet. If you would like me to work with your child, please don't hesitate to reach out! I look forward to meeting you and your child.
When I was in high school, I had an opportunity to internship at an elementary school and from that moment I fell in love with education. I went on to get my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and have been teaching ever since. I started out in the regular elementary classroom and then had opportunities to teach Spanish, Reading and English as a Second Language.
I love helping children grow as learners. It gives me great joy to see them learn and achieve their goals. There is nothing better than working with a struggling reader and hearing them say "I can read this!" I believe that children learn best when they are having fun, and feel safe. It is my goal to make each child feel this way. I want them to know that they matter to me.
I was born in Venezuela and moved to the states at the age of 10. This has helped me connect with my ESL students in the past because I understand what they are going through. In Venezuela they speak Spanish, which is why I feel comfortable teaching Spanish to young learners. I have 3 kids and I decided to work from home so that I could enjoy as much of my time with them as possible. Time flies and I want to continue working in education and encouraging children to find a love of learning.
