Class Experience

In this ongoing 1-on-1 Minecraft Java Edition class, students will receive personalized coaching to help improve their architectural building skills within the game. The focus will be on developing a deeper understanding of architectural principles such as symmetry, scale, depth, detailing, and material selection. We'll also explore different building styles—modern, medieval, fantasy, and more—based on the student's interests and goals.

The class is structured around weekly hour-long sessions. In the first meeting, we’ll discuss the learner’s current skill level, what they enjoy building, and what they'd like to improve or learn. From there, I will tailor each session to support their progress through hands-on activities, building demonstrations, and real-time feedback while they build in a private world.

My teaching style is encouraging, creative, and learner-centered. Rather than lecturing, I work alongside the student, offering suggestions, examples, and guidance while allowing them the freedom to experiment and explore. Most of the session will be interactive and discussion-based, with plenty of time for questions, tips, and live building challenges.

This class is designed to be highly flexible and collaborative, giving learners the chance to grow their creativity and technical skills in a safe and supportive environment. All interactions happen live during class, with no external tools or platforms required beyond Minecraft Java Edition.

Parental Guidance

This class uses Minecraft Java Edition, which is rated E10+ by the ESRB. The student may encounter mild fantasy violence such as environmental hazards and mobs (e.g., zombies, skeletons, etc.), but no combat is the focus of this class. Students will be required to provide their gamer tag in a private message to the instructor in order to join the private world. 🚫 Gamer tags must not be shared publicly in the classroom discussion section. ✅ The server will only be active during scheduled class sessions. If you have any questions about gameplay, server setup, or safety, feel free to reach out before class.

I have over a decade of experience playing Minecraft, with a strong focus on creative building, architectural design, and redstone mechanics. My passion for construction extends beyond the game as well—I have real-world experience in residential construction and home renovation, which gives me a unique perspective on how to apply real architectural concepts within Minecraft builds. This hands-on knowledge helps me teach students not only how to build creatively but also how to think structurally and design with purpose.

While I’ve recently begun teaching on Outschool, I’ve spent years working with children and teens in informal educational settings.
