Welcome to Minecraft: Adventure Design! In this interactive program, you'll learn how to design, build and create your own Minecraft minigames and adventure maps. Whether you're an experienced Minecraft player or a beginner, our expert instructors will help you explore your creativity and problem-solving skills as you navigate the various construction challenges while working with Minecraft as your primary design engine. Our One-week program is designed for kids in grades 4-10 and takes place 5 days a week for a 3 hour-long class meeting. Each session is unique and can be taken multiple times, so your child can continue to develop their skills and create new adventures each time. During the program, students will learn the basics of redstone circuits and devices, how to design and build an adventure map, the principles of creating a dynamic and interesting 3D game world, how to construct 3D adventure maps and minigames, and the principles of game design. Our student-centered learning approach with collaborative projects encourages teamwork and communication among students, allowing them to learn from each other and develop new skills together. Our teaching style is interactive and engaging, with a focus on hands-on learning. We use a variety of teaching methods including lectures, games, slides, video clips, and discussions to ensure that students have an immersive and fun learning experience. Each week, students will work on a new project or challenge, which builds upon what they learned in previous weeks. Here's a breakdown of what will be taught each day: Day 1: Introduction to Adventure Design and Redstone Basics Students will learn the basics of adventure design and redstone circuits and devices. Day 2: Adventure Map Design Students will learn how to design and build an adventure map, including creating interesting terrain, obstacles, and enemies. Day 3: 3D Game World Principles: Students will learn the principles of creating a dynamic and interesting 3D game world, including how to use lighting, texture, and sound to create atmosphere and tension. Day 4: Adventure Map Construction: Students will work on constructing their adventure map, including adding puzzles, secrets, and other gameplay elements. Students will learn about constructive feedback and test each other's maps. Day 5 : Minigame Design Students will learn about different types of minigames and how to design and build their own, including challenges, races, and puzzles. No prior Minecraft experience is necessary, as all skill levels are welcome. However, basic computer skills and familiarity with Minecraft controls are helpful. We will provide a Minecraft Education account for participation in our program. In conclusion, Minecraft: Adventure Design is a fun and engaging way for kids to explore their creativity and problem-solving skills while learning about game design and Minecraft construction. We look forward to seeing your child create their own Minecraft adventures!
