In this 3-day class, students will review 2nd and 3rd grade Dolch sight words using Minecraft GIFs. After reviewing and practicing reading fluency with those sight words in sentences, we will practice identifying those sight words in by playing an interactive game of Kahoot! In each class, we will play a new Kahoot game with different sight words and new Minecraft GIFs! Kahoot is an interactive software that allows students to answer the teacher's question in a game-type format. Students will have the option to use their own device to play Kahoot during class. This is encouraged but not required. If students want to play Kahoot using their own device, I strongly recommend having one device for Zoom and another separate device for Kahoot. Kahoot does show a scoreboard with the top 5 players names after each question. If students do not want to compete on the scoreboard or if you do not want to use two devices during class, students can still participate and share their answers with the class without using Kahoot. Students are encouraged to bring a Minecraft related toy or object to share at the beginning of class! :) Note: Students do not play Minecraft in this class. This class is Minecraft themed.

I was a 2nd grade teacher for 3 years and taught all subject areas, including math. My students LOVED Minecraft, so I enjoyed incorporating Minecraft into my classroom when I had the opportunity. I find that students learn best when the topic is of interest to them.
I have tutored elementary, middle school, and high school students for over 10 years. In addition, I have taught summer school for the past 3 years and taught English online. I am certified to teach all content areas through 6th grade. I have my Special Education and ESL certifications through 12th grade.
