Beginner Level
Learner enjoys a weekly calming routine listening and participating to "Breathe Like a Bear", a children's book by Kira Willey about mindful practices to help little ones know themselves and create the mood they need to feel their best. During the story time, Learner will be guided through a group of five practices: 1. Be Calm, 2. Focus, 3. Imagine, 4. Make Some Energy, and 5. Relax. Each week the class will cover these categories, yet with different practices each time, building an impressive chest of life and stress management skills. Each week's class (same day and time each week) will include one practice from the above mentioned categories of 1. Be Calm, 2. Focus, 3. Imagine, 4. Make Some Energy, and 5. Relax with the following program starting: Week 1: Candle Breath, Rainstorm, Clouds, 1-2-3 Clap, Get Your Grumpies Out Week 2: Hot Chocolate, Snake Breath, Kindness, Bunny Breath, Kitty Cat Stretch Week 3: Flower Breath, Waves on the Water, Imagine You're a Tree, Wake Up Your Face, Scrunch and Let Go Week 4: Count to Five, Be a Bumblebee, Send Good Thoughts, Twister, Gentle Neck Stretch Week 5: Bear Breath, Listen, Create Something New, Hot Soup, Shoulder Rolls Week 6: Your favorite color, Where is Your Breath, Today I'm Going to Be, Lion Breath, Do Nothing Moment Week 7 and beyond will be individualized and expanded to meet learner's needs, as well as to continue supporting learner's internalization process of these so very helpful mindfulness practices. This class is ideal for introducing learners to whimsical, yet relaxing and mindful techniques that not only develop stress management skills, but add self-understanding and joy in life. Class size is small, so the child has ample opportunities to participate freely. For these reasons and for gauging Learner's interest level and to be able to adjust accordingly, I require open mics and video in my classes so there is a sense of community and engagement with the material.
