Class Experience

In this class, students learn to become aware of their emotions and manage them in a calmer manner. They learn to recognize what is going on inside them. This means recognizing when they are growing angry, frustrated, or worried. It is the important part of mindfulness that we will explore in this class.
Every week I read a short story about our daily life that may happen at school or home, utilizing a mindfulness book (Mindfulness for Kids by Carole P. Roman and J. Robin Albertson-Waren), then I use different mindfulness meditation practices to learn how to calm ourselves in that situation, recognize any feelings or emotions that arise in our mind or body while listening to the story, and learn to manage the situation better and make a mindful choice.

Meditation techniques we use in this class are Mindful listening, Mindful breathing, counting the breath, mindful walking, Body scan, sending kind intentions to us and other people, practicing gratitude, and much more.

Each class starts with a "Mindful Moments" practice, a few minutes of guided meditation sit, followed by a brief checking in and noticing what is present for us, then I read the short story from the book and do a few mindfulness meditation practices.
I use many different mind/body breathing exercises that help the students to release and let go of strong emotions, come back to the center and become more focused and relaxed.

Students learn how to cope with the different emotions listed below every week.

Frustration, Anger, Anxiety, Fear, Stress, Bordon, Resentment, Overwhelm, Embarrassment, Shame, Jealousy, Sadness and so on.

Learners have time to interact with each other, talk about the story, learn from each other, and ask any questions.
They will be instructed to be aware of their feelings and emotions during the week, understand and manage them mindfully and make better choices. They will learn how to self-regulate themselves when they encounter any strong emotions.

No prior experience need to attend this class.
Students can join this class anytime and leave anytime, each class topic/ is separate from the previous one.

30 years of data have proven that regular mindfulness practice is linked to improved attentional ability and emotional self-regulation in kids, fundamental life skills that are critical to working effectively with others. Such skills are also building blocks for success in many areas of students’ social, emotional, and academic lives.

Greetings to all parents and learners! I'm Gita, a Mindful Schools Certified Mindfulness Instructor, dedicated to fostering well-being in kids, teens, parents, and educators by alleviating stress and anxiety while promoting balance and overall wellness.

With over 30 years of personal mindfulness meditation practice, I've been imparting the transformative benefits of mindfulness and secular meditation techniques for over 10 years. I honed my skills through a comprehensive six-month meditation teacher training with the esteemed Willpower Institute in Canada & Thailand, earning my Meditation Instructor Certificate in 2014.

My commitment to mindfulness education deepened with over two years of mindfulness training courses through Mindful Schools, in California. I completed the Year-Long certification program, earning the title of Mindful Schools Certified Mindfulness Instructor (CMI) in 2018. This certification equips me to teach Kids and Teens using Mindful School's specialized curriculum.

Mindfulness, to me, is the art of paying attention to both our inner and outer experiences with openness and curiosity. It involves embracing our experiences without judgment and fostering kindness towards ourselves and others.

In the realm of education, I've witnessed the power of mindfulness in helping children and teens maintain focus, enhance concentration, improve academic performance, and develop self-awareness. Through mindfulness training, they cultivate compassion and care for themselves and those around them.

Teaching mindfulness meditation is not just my profession—it's my passion. I am driven by a desire to share the profound gift of mindfulness practices with as many people as possible. My aim is to help individuals reduce the stresses of daily life and pave the way for a happier, healthier, and more harmonious existence.

You can explore mindfulness further through my website, Meditationforallages.com, where I offer meditation guidance for adult professionals. Beyond my work, I find joy in reading books, strolling outdoors, practicing mindfulness meditation (of course!), playing the piano, traveling, and cherishing moments with my family and friends.

Let's embark on a journey of mindfulness together—a path to greater well-being and a more enriched life!
