US Grade 2 - 4
Beginner - Advanced Level
In this class, learners will learn how to listen to their bodies, articulate how they’re feeling, and learn some mindfulness techniques of self-regulation in order to respond with care and kindness toward themselves. Throughout the class, they will learn some tips and tricks to help calm their bodies if they get angry or have big emotions. A fun time will be had by all! We will use a story and the accompanying activities as a guide to help us understand the connection between sensations (tired, hungry, thirsty, etc.) and feelings (happy, sad, angry, etc.) so that we can get better at figuring out what our bodies need (rest, food, water, etc.). We will discuss how sensations and feelings go together. While reading the story, learners will practice "listening" to their body. This will help them to be able to respond with care and kindness when experiencing difficult emotions. Once they’ve had practice listening to their body, they will then take a moment to listen to their body to determine what their body needs at that moment. Learners will be encouraged to share along the way, but will not be forced to share if they do not feel comfortable. *Learners will be asked to get up and move in place. Please make sure the space around them is clear. They may want to have a water bottle close by while taking class. *Each learner must be registered to attend the class; however, siblings/friends can share a screen to participate in the class. *Please make sure your learner knows how to find and use the Mute/Unmute button. There are times when a learner’s background is noisy. Their mic will be muted by the teacher so the class and the learning and thinking processes are not disrupted. Your learner will then have to unmute their mic in order to talk. Zoom will not allow teachers to unmute mics anymore. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
