1 hour per week. Since this is a flex class, students will need to watch and participate with the videos, as well as complete the journal prompt by writing or submitting a video reflection to each session. This should take approximately 15-20 minutes per session, no more than an hour per week.Assessment
Student prompts will be given individual written feedback. If needed, student and teacher can arrange for a time to meet on the Outschool class page to discuss any questions or concerns.Class Experience
Learn these mindfulness strategies to reduce your stress, manage anxiety, and have strategies to use in any situation. This class consists of 30 sessions that truly are mindfulness "moments," as they will take approximately ten minutes to complete, but can be used for a lifetime. You will have lifetime access to the videos! Students will be led through mindful activities that will help them to - feel calmer - get to know themselves better - soften reactivity and steady their emotions - improve focus and increase their attention span - let go of stress - improve relationships with friends and family - develop compassion - build patience - strengthen resilience. Students who have test anxiety now will have new coping mechanisms. A complete list of each session is posted at the bottom of the Course Description. As a special education and social studies educator, I have found that students are more stressed than ever. Learning mindfulness helps them to deal with the many stressors in their lives in a healthy way that will serve their mental health for a lifetime. Taking this as a flex class gives you lifetime access to the narrated videos. Three sessions will be released per week for students to participate in when it is convenient for them. The thirty sessions are spread out over a ten-week time period. These sessions consist of pre-recorded videos and journal prompts for the learners to reflect on. Students will submit their complete journal responses privately to the teacher. They will also be given the option to share their reflections on the class discussion page on Outschool and respond to their classmates, allowing for regular interaction with their classmates and interaction with and feedback from the teacher. This can be either written or video reflections. I will be available to students to answer their questions or respond to their journal prompts within 48 hours of their posting.
